Collecting information
Nodes that hold the conversation on one question until the answer is valid — typed values, keypad entries and recording consent.
Some information has to be right before the conversation may move on: an email address, a policy number, a PIN, consent to record. These nodes park the conversation until it is.
Collect Variable
Asks for one piece of information and will not move on until it is valid.
The conversation stays on the question, re-asking every turn. The assistant reports what the caller said; the system checks it against the rules you set for that data type, and only a value that passes releases the node.
A work email address: Gmail and Outlook addresses are rejected, the caller is told why, and the flow carries on only once a company address is given.
The check is done by the platform, not by the assistant — which is the point: a model asked to mark its own answer tends to pass it. You choose how much of a rejection reason the caller is told.
Keypad Gather
Collects digits pressed on the caller's keypad.
- Station mode (the default) holds the conversation until the digits are in, re-asking every turn, with an evaluation deciding when to move on.
- Soft mode asks once and carries straight on; nothing checks that it worked.
Keypad input has to be enabled on the flow for either mode — that is what makes the call
listen for keypresses at all. An entry reaches the assistant as a normal turn beginning
User's Keypad Entry:.
Tip
Use station mode for anything the flow depends on, such as a PIN. Soft mode is for optional shortcuts.
Recording Consent
Asks, without allowing interruption, whether the call may be recorded, and starts recording on a clear yes. It is a yes/no Collect Variable underneath. See Recording consent for how the answer is checked.
